If your project involves planting seeds and/or seedlings in the field, the planting and survival of planted plants can be tracked within your Planting Sites in Terraware.
To track plants, they first need to be recorded in Terraware as inventory, and then they will need to be recorded as withdrawn from inventory for the purpose of planting to areas of your Planting Sites.
To record plants as withdrawn from inventory, use the Withdraw feature in inventory batches to move quantities of "ready to plant" plants from your inventory batches (e.g. from your nurseries) to your planting sites. To learn more about seedling withdrawals, visit Seedling Withdrawals.
Once you have allocated plants to your Planting Sites, you will be able to track the planting progress within the Planting Progress screens in the Withdrawals page and in the Plants Dashboard.
Planting Progress
The Planting Progress screens in the Withdrawals page display the planting withdrawals within both a list and a map. Within the list, the plantings are listed by planting site substrata. In the map view, the plantings can be viewed on a map of the planting site.
The Planting Progress list includes all of the Planting Site Substrata to which you "sent" plants using the Withdraw feature in your nursery inventory batches. For more information about withdrawing from batches, visit Seedling Withdrawal.
Planting Progress table in Withdrawals
The Planting Progress table shows a total number of all of the plants that were recorded as planted in the Planting Site Substrata. To see a log of all of the withdrawals (planting events) recorded by date, including the quantity of plants, click the number in the "Total Seedlings Sent" column in the table to access the data in the Withdrawal History.
Marking areas as Planting Complete
The Planting Progress table is also also where you mark your planting activities for a planting area (Substratum) as completed.
To mark planting in a Substratum as completed, select the Substrata by checking the box(es) to the left of the Substratum in the table. The option to mark the area as "Planting Complete" will appear above the table. Click to mark the planting as complete. After you have marked a planting area as complete, you can undo the marking, if you plan to plant more in the area. To undo "Planting Complete", select the area(s) by checking the box(es) to the left of the areas in the table and click "Undo Planting Complete."
Viewing the Planting Progress Map
To view planting progress on a map, click Map above the table to toggle the map view. Within the map, click within the substrata to view a summary of the planting progress.

The Plants Dashboard shows information about the plants you reported planting in the Planting Site.
Plants Dashboard showing planting data
The map in the Plants Dashboard shows the planting strata (the large areas of your site where conditions are similar) and substrata (the smaller specific areas within those strata) of your planting site. To learn more about strata and substrata, visit Managing Planting Sites.
