The Terraware mobile app is required to complete planting site observations that are scheduled in Terraware for plant monitoring activities. To learn more about scheduling observations, visit Observations for Monitoring.
The Plant Monitoring feature in the mobile app provides a way for you to record plant data, even while in the field with limited network connectivity.
Plant Monitoring feature in the mobile app
In the Plant Monitoring feature, you will see all of the "In Progress" Observations listed under "Current Observations". All of the scheduled but not yet started Observations will be listed under "Future Observations".
Before you record plant data, the mobile app guides you through claiming and marking the boundaries of the monitoring plots that are assigned through scheduled Observations.
Claiming plots prior to tracking plants in monitoring plots
You will record information about plants, including species and live or dead status, for each plant you observe in monitoring plots. Field notes can be recorded with the plant data as well.

The data you record is saved in the mobile app. When you are in an area with network connectivity, you can upload the saved data to Terraware.
Uploading Observation monitoring plot data that was saved while plot tracking was done offline
The plant data that you collect is analyzed in Terraware, and insights based on the data is surfaced in Dashboards in the web app that are specific to each of your planting sites.
